On Behalf of | Apr 27, 2018 | Drug Charges

Millions of people in Illinois, throughout the country and around the world are active users on a variety of social media platforms. Users take to these platforms to share information, keep up-to-date with friends and family, or to voice their personal views. While most of the sharing is harmless, some individuals find themselves in hot water following some of their posts. Recently, one man’s questionable social media posts led to his arrest on drug charges.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office reported that someone had allegedly posted racially derogatory comments on the Office’s social media accounts. Their investigation had led to a 20-year-old man from Harvard. Upon review of the man’s accounts on social media, officers apparently saw photos of weapons, drugs and cash. Police officials noted that the man had a pending arrest warrant on an unrelated matter and arrested him at his home.

During the arrest, officers apparently discovered drug paraphernalia at the man’s home and obtained a search warrant. During the search, the police located cannabis and cannabis wax valued at almost $11,000 as well as nearly $11,000 in cash, per reports. The man has been charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intention to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anyone facing drug charges in the state of Illinois should contact an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. A knowledgeable lawyer will provide much-needed guidance throughout the entire legal process. A strong legal team will focus on the goal of getting a client’s life back to normal as soon as possible.
