Many individuals who are accused of a felony find the subsequent process stressful and challenging. Felony drug charges are severe in nature and can alter a person’s life in various ways. An individual who is in a similar situation will likely be facing the possibility of a lengthy prison term if convicted. Two people are facing such charges after they were arrested following the recent search of a residence in Illinois.

Police claim to have received a report about an individual who was using narcotics in the presence of a child. Upon arrival, authorities allegedly witnessed evidence of two people using drugs through a window at the residence. Police say they searched the property after receiving consent. They allegedly uncovered various types and amounts of narcotics including methamphetamine and marijuana.

Both individuals were arrested following the search, and although bond has been set, both apparently remain in custody. A young child was reportedly found during the search as well. One of the individuals is facing charges for possession of meth and marijuana, while the other is accused of possession of meth. If convicted, both will be facing the possibility of spending several years behind bars.

Facing felony drug charges is challenging, and seeking legal counsel in the early stages is advisable. Those accused may opt to speak with an experienced attorney for advice on the best course of action to take. A defense attorney in Illinois can evaluate all evidence surrounding the current situation, including the arrest procedure, and advise an individual on how to pursue the best outcome possible.
