Illinois driver faces drunk driving charges

On Behalf of | Jun 13, 2018 | Drunk Driving

Early morning hours can present some challenges for the Illinois driver. In addition to pitch-black darkness, the driver often faces the challenge of fatigue. These factors, along with others, can easily lead to driving miscalculations, errors and accidents. When this happens, it is possible that an assumption of drunk driving will be made.

Recently, a 19-year-old driver was involved in a collision with another driver during the early morning hours. Somehow the woman was driving north on an interstate roadway designed for southbound travel. Both drivers suffered injury and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities indicate that drunk driving is suspected in this case, yet no specific details regarding what this suspicion is based upon has been released. The driver has been arrested; however, the charges are uncertain at this time.

It is possible that the charges are warranted; it is also possible that there is another plausible explanation for the events that occurred. Does the evidence indicate that the driver had been drinking? Is it possible that fatigue and/or darkness contributed to the events that led up to the accident?

In a situation such as this one, the driver will have to answer to the drunk driving charges before an Illinois judge. Prior to this, he or she will want to work with an experienced attorney to develop a strategy designed to achieve the best possible outcome. Drunk driving penalties can be severe. The accused will want someone in his or her corner fighting for his or her rights.
