3 Illinois men face drug charges related to cocaine

On Behalf of | May 11, 2018 | Drug Charges

Flashing lights can make even the most careful driver nervous. Thoughts of “what have I done?” and “what do I need to do?” may flash through one’s mind. For some Illinois drivers, though, these lights can become a worrisome problem. If officers suspect a problem, they may decide to do more than just write a ticket and may even pursue drug charges if they discover some reason to suspect that drugs are involved.

Recent arrest records indicate that three men recently experienced the fear associated with flashing lights approaching their vehicles. In each instance, officers apparently came to the conclusion that cocaine was present in the vehicle. Each of these traffic stops led to individuals being arrested and charged with drug-related crimes.

In situations such as these, there are a number of questions that need to be answered. For example, why were the individuals stopped in the first place? Then, what led officers to believe that cocaine was present? Additionally, were proper procedures followed in determining that the vehicle should be searched, and was the search conducted in an appropriate manner? Each of these questions, along with numerous others, need to be analyzed in determining the best way to address the drug charges that each individual is now facing.

For the Illinois resident facing a possible conviction related to drug charges, the consequences can be severe. In addition to potential jail time, these charges can affect the individual’s employment and financial position. This individual will want experienced legal counsel reviewing the evidence and ensuring that his or her rights are protected.
