Authorities across the country have taken measures over recent years to crack down on the distribution of drugs. Investigations often make use of undercover officers and/or informants to identify and locate individuals who are believed to be responsible for the sale of narcotics. Two men in Illinois have been arrested and are now facing drug charges following a recent investigation under similar circumstances.
According to police, an undercover officer made several drug purchases from one of the men over the span of a month. Authorities advised that a meeting was set up in a parking lot at the end of the investigation where the accused was taken into custody. Police also claim that the other man was waiting in a separate vehicle nearby, and upon searching the vehicle, they claim to have found various amounts of cocaine and marijuana. He was also taken into custody following the incident.
Both men face charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. One of the men also faces charges for allegedly selling cocaine to an undercover officer. Penalties for criminal convictions of this nature are severe, often including a lengthy prison term. This alone can have a major impact on a person’s life.
