I Fight For You In License Revocation Or Suspension Matters

For most people accused of drunk driving in Nashville, Washington County or elsewhere in Southern Illinois, the biggest concern is the loss of driving privileges.

I am Tom Speedie. Not only am I a skilled drunk driving defense lawyer, I am also a former hearing officer and prosecutor for the Secretary of State. My background means I have firsthand knowledge of the process involved in suspending and revoking driver’s license. I understand the steps that can be taken to prevent driver’s license suspension and revocation, and I know how to have licenses reinstated after driving privileges have been taken away. You can be confident in my ability to keep you on the road.

How Long Will The Suspension Last?

The length of driver’s license suspension depends on a variety of factors, primarily the number of previous offenses. If you are convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) for the first time, your license will be revoked for a year. For a second conviction, the penalty is a five-year revocation. For a third conviction, 10 years. If you are convicted of DUI for a fourth time, you will lose your driving privileges forever.

I will strive to prevent or minimize the length of driver’s license suspension. If your license is suspended, I may be able to help you get limited driving privileges so that you can drive to work and other necessary destinations within a certain timeframe.

The Difference Between Suspension And Revocation

While the terms suspension and revocation are often used interchangeably, there is a distinction. Both refer to the loss of driving privileges. However, you can get a suspended license back once your time is up and you pay a fee. You have to go to a Secretary of State hearing to get a revoked license back. I can help you “get back on the road.”
