Illinois man accused of drunk driving after alleged pursuit

On Behalf of | Jun 19, 2017 | Uncategorized

The early hours of the morning are often a common time frame for a driver who is exhibiting erratic behavior to fall under suspicion of driving under the influence. When someone chooses to evade a traffic stop during this period, his or her actions could be viewed as a sign or admission of guilt. An Illinois man is facing drunk driving charges after an alleged incident involving several traffic offenses.

Police claim to have come upon a driver who was operating his vehicle without the use of headlights at around 1:30 a.m. Upon attempting to initiate a traffic stop, they assert that he began to flee, allegedly running through several stop signs in the process. After a short period, they say he attempted to make a turn while traveling far too fast and hit a traffic sign and a tree, and then he allegedly continued on until he eventually hit a police car.

According to reports, he was taken into custody after allegedly failing field sobriety tests. He is currently facing multiple charges in relation, including reckless driving and driving under the influence. Charges of this nature carry severe penalties, and if convicted, he could have his driver’s license suspended or revoked as well as receiving a permanent mark on his record.

When facing drunk driving charges, many individuals seek to protect themselves from potentially devastating consequences by challenging the charges, but the process can be challenging to navigate alone. Those who are facing a similar situation often choose to retain the services of a defense attorney for guidance throughout the process. An attorney in Illinois can advise a client of the potential consequences, as well as the applicable options for defense, and assist in pursuing the most favorable outcome possible during court proceedings.
