For what reasons does the secretary of state revoke a driver’s license?

There are a lot of reasons why the Secretary of State revokes driving privileges. The most common, by far, is for conviction of driving under the influence (DUI). You will be revoked for one year for your first conviction of DUI, five years for your second, and 10 years for your third conviction. You can get a “hardship permit” at any time during a one year revocation, or after one year on a five or ten year revocation. Currently, if you have four convictions for DUI, and any of those arrests happened after January 1, 1999, you will never be eligible for driving relief.
